How to work out your Kua number
- Find your feng shui birth year. It starts at Li Chun, around 4 February, not on 1 January or at Chinese New Year. Born before Li Chun? Use the year before.
- Add up the digits of that year until one digit is left: 1995 → 1 + 9 + 9 + 5 = 24 → 2 + 4 = 6.
- Male: take that digit away from 11. Female: add 4 to it. If the answer has two digits, add them together.
- If you land on 5, men use 2 and women use 8.
So for 1995: men get 11 − 6 = 5 → Kua 2, and women get 4 + 6 = 10 → 1 + 0 = Kua 1.

The feng shui year changes at Li Chun, between 3 and 5 February depending on the year. If you were born before it, use the year before. The calculator above checks this for you.
Kua 1, 3, 4 and 9 are the East Group, with lucky directions North, South, East and Southeast. Kua 2, 6, 7 and 8 are the West Group, with lucky directions West, Northwest, Southwest and Northeast.
No. It comes from your birth year, so it stays the same for life. What changes is the Flying Stars every year and the almanac every day. Both are in Astrelle's Feng Shui tab.
Feng shui is a traditional practice for reflection and inspiration, not science.
